thank you for your service, my partner also joined the military bc college wasnt an option by itself. and yes i am blessed to have just been able to go to college. no one should have to join the service and risk their life, freedom, happiness in the pursuits of higher education.

and im 100% on board with reparations and agree that needs to be a priority. but student loans also affect populations differently

Black and African American college graduates owe an average of $25,000 more in student loan debt than White college graduates.

Four years after graduation, 48% of Black students owe an average of 12.5% more than they borrowed.

Black and African American student borrowers are the most likely to struggle financially due to student loan debt, with 29% making monthly payments of $350 or more. (all from https://educationdata.org/student-loan-debt-by-race)

theres a way to do both and make student loan forgiveness target who needs it most first /who is harmed most by American policies, history, and present reality. it doesnt have to be one or another
